Port Freight Ends Up in Ontario
Container and trailer towing is its own job in Ontario because the city is where port freight turns into local freight. Ontario handles freight moving between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and the rest of the country, and the Inland Empire around it holds about 1 billion square feet of warehouse space. Boxes arrive by truck and by rail, then are unloaded, transloaded and sent out again.
What we move
We tow trailers and containers when the tractor is not available, not working or not allowed to continue: a dropped trailer in a customer lot, an abandoned chassis, a flat on a loaded container, a trailer with failed landing gear, a reefer that lost its tractor, or a trailer left on a shoulder. We also move trailers that must be repositioned before an inspection or a delivery window.
Landing gear, kingpins and air lines
Trailer problems are often small and stubborn: a bent kingpin, jammed landing gear, seized brakes, a dead light circuit, or a cracked container twist lock. We check these before lifting. If the trailer cannot roll, we can lift it with a heavy wrecker, use dollies or a second truck, or load it on a lowboy if it must travel a long way.
Loads that cannot wait
With warehouse and parcel traffic running around the clock, a stalled trailer can block a gate or a loading lane. Ontario International Airport handled 835,129 tons of cargo in 2025, and UPS, FedEx and Amazon Air all operate there. Feeder trailers and containers need to be moved back into service quickly and with care for the load.
Information we need
- Container or trailer number, if the owner or the terminal requires it.
- Whether it is a container on a chassis, a dry van, a reefer, a flatbed or a tank.
- Loaded or empty, approximate weight and cargo type.
- Whether a reefer needs its fuel and temperature checked.
- The pickup address and the destination yard, terminal or customer.
- The owner, the dispatcher or the broker authorizing payment.
Rail and port connections
Containers also reach the Inland Empire by train, and the region's rail yards and warehouses draw drayage trucks all day. A container that arrives with a bad chassis or a failed light circuit may not be allowed to leave the yard until it is fixed or moved. We can relocate the unit to a repair shop or a safe lot so the schedule can recover.
Yards and docks
Ontario's warehouse districts have tight turns, narrow gates and parked trailers on all sides. A wrecker has to maneuver without hitting docks or blocking other traffic. We plan the approach and the turn before the truck arrives.

Container & Trailer Towing Questions
Can you tow a loaded container on a chassis?
Yes. Give us the weight and the cargo. Heavy loads may need an additional wrecker.
Do you move trailers with no tractor?
Yes. We can lift and tow a trailer by itself, or move it with a heavy wrecker.
What if the trailer is a reefer?
Tell us the setpoint and whether the unit is still running. Cargo is time-sensitive, and the dispatcher will plan around it.
Who authorizes the tow of an abandoned trailer?
The owner, the fleet or the broker. We need that authorization before moving it.
